THE POTENTIAL OF COLLABORATION AND EXCHANGE
This session brings together a number of issues, based on the premise that volunteer managers are too busy to do everything individually. It will suggest ways of working together, as individual professionals, or at an organisational level. In addition, the Internet has given us extraordinary tools for networking across all sorts of boundaries. Discussion points include:

  • What does ‘networking’ really mean in a daily, practical context?
  • How might volunteer programmes that share mutual concerns work collaboratively (for example: developing training co-operatives)?
  • What is the potential of local and national associations of volunteer managers?
  • What opportunities for international exchange does the Internet provide, and why are these so valuable?
  • Professional development resources on the web
