Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions

Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions is an indispensable resource for all those directly involved in, or concerned with, the management of risk in the financial sector in five inter-related areas:

  • strategic and business risk: risks to the way the institution is managed in both the immediate and longer term (e.g. competitor strategy, M&A, new product development, profit warnings etc.);
  • financial risk: covering both traditional and more exotic credit, market and liquidity risks and exposures across all products;
  • operational risk: management of day-to-day business processes as well as large unexpected internal and external events (e.g. fraud, theft, natural disaster, terrorism, litigation);
  • regulatory risks: regulatory developments and their impact on institutions;
  • systemic risk: risks of a systemic crisis to the financial system as a whole triggered by financial institutions, and/or the risks to the financial service industry of such a systemic crisis, however triggered.

 

The Journal’s content is international in scope and addresses the diverse range of disciplines that risk management draws upon, including:

The journal publishes a mixture of technical and qualitative research/management papers describing the strategies, models and processes of direct and indirect concern to risk managers. Each article is subjected to double-blind peer review to ensure it is both rigorous and addresses and satisfies the practical needs and concerns of risk managers.
Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions aims to:

  • Expand and disseminate the body of knowledge in risk management to central, investment, commercial and retail banks, trade associations, brokers, custodians, infrastructure providers, commodities dealers, hedge funds, government, regulators, consultants, educators, researchers and students;
  • Identify and assess the impacts of strategic, financial, operational and systemic risk on financial institutions and their customers;
  • Encourage the exchange of ideas, information and experiences;
  • Identify industry trends and best practice in risk management methodology;
  • Publish new and original ideas on research, products and policy;
  • Facilitate the cooperation and debate between practitioners, regulators and academics;
  • Promote professional excellence in risk management.
