HOW TO READ AND INTERPRET ACCOUNTS
Tuesday, 23 September

An introduction to reading, understanding and interpreting company accounts.

Delegates are advised to bring a calculator to this course.

The course will cover:
• The importance of cash and cash flow forecasting to a business
• How a business reflects its transactions in the balance sheet and profit and loss account
• Accounting terminology
• Property accounting issues; with worked examples
• Interpretation of accounts: getting behind the jargon
• An introduction to trend and ratio analysis
• An introduction to Real Estate Investment Trusts
• An introduction to the major differences between International and UK Financial Reporting Standards

This course is designed to improve understanding of financial statements.  It will primarily benefit those with a limited financial background whom it will assist to increase their understanding of accounts and, in particular, the accounts of property companies, and to analyse and interpret both the reported figures and the accompanying narrative.
